Currently, VBC has finished hiring and training all new members of our seasonal staff for the start of Fall classes.VBC hires for seasonal employment. Our seasonal positions last for approx two weeks during each "busy season." However, after completing training and working one busy season with VBC you are put on our seasonal staff list and get offered shifts during each busy season thereafter!
The next time VBC will be actively looking to add a few new members to our seasonal staff list will be at the end of the Fall semester during finals week(s).
After that VBC will want to add a few new members for the start of Spring classes.
We will update this page in the middle of November with more details on the open positions needed for both upcoming seasons along with an online applications for each season.TIPS to get noticed by VBC hiring managers:Availability & desire to work a minimum of 15 hr/week. VBC provides paid training for each new member of our seasonal staff. Training week alone will total more than 15 hrs/week. After training week is complete all of VBC's seasonal positions last for only two weeks.
Availability to train in the week or two before the start of the busy season you are applying to.
Candidates who want to work during the end of the semester should be able to train in the weeks before the 1st day of Finals week.Candidates who want to work during the start of classes should be able to train in the weeks before "Move in weekend" (the weekend right before the 1st day of classes).Availability & desire to work during the week around your class/exam schedule/other job. VBC's highest volume of customer traffic happens during the week.
Recognize that the 1st day of classes is our "Black Friday" and be open to working a less traditional schedule on that particular day. Example: a few hours in the morning before your class, the two hours between your classes in the afternoon, and the last few hours before close of business. It might not seem like coming in for two hours here and there throughout the day is helpful but trust us-it is!
